Course Description

Personal data in Singapore is protected under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA) which took effect in 2014.

The PDPA establishes a data protection law that comprises various rules governing the collection, use, disclosure and care of personal data by organisations.

This course is divided to 4 parts as follows:

Part 1 – Overview to PDPA

Part 2 – 9 Obligations under the PDPA

Part 3 – Role of Data Protection Officer (DPO)

Part 4 – Managing Data Breaches

This is Part 3 of the PDPA Series that examines who is a Data Protection Officer and his roles. It is mandatory for every organisation to have a DPO. This is a useful overview for DPOs and all stakeholders within the organisation, such as employees and customers, to know what to expect from the DPO.
